Atlas Intake and Case Management for Disability Income Assistance

Overview

Atlas, also known as Atlas Intake Management and Atlas Case Management, is a Government of Alberta digital platform supporting disability-income programs within Alberta Assisted Living and Social Services. The work helped modernize how applications, eligibility decisions, client information, income, benefits and case activity are managed for AISH and the introduction of ADAP through Disability Income Assistance. The platform moves complex, policy-driven work toward a more connected digital workflow that gives caseworkers clearer information and helps eligible Albertans access financial, health and employment supports.

Challenge

Caseworkers needed to complete sensitive, high-consequence work across complex program rules, dated household relationships, income reporting periods and benefit calculations. Fragmented processes and inconsistent interfaces made information harder to interpret and increased the risk of errors when a client's circumstances changed within an annual benefit period. Teams needed a shared, accessible design direction that could be tested before implementation and translated into production-ready requirements.

What was done

  • Translated policy, operational needs and caseworker tasks into service flows, information architecture, interaction patterns and detailed interface requirements.
  • Designed and prototyped intake and case-management experiences covering client information, eligibility, household members, income, benefits, payments and related case activity.
