OASIS Operational Actuarial System Integrated Services
Challenge
The Office of the Chief Actuary is modernizing actuarial modelling for CPP, OAS, and VAC. Existing work depends on ageing desktop tools, manual orchestration, file-based exchange, specialized local setups, and legacy Fortran workflows.
What was done
- Mapped current-state actuarial workflows, user journeys, task flows, pain points, operational constraints, and system touchpoints across CPP, OAS, and VAC.
- Developed future-state flows and service design artifacts for a unified web-based modelling experience.
- Created wireframes, clickable prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for project, template, run, input, output, parameter, status, file editing, and model execution workflows.
- Designed interaction patterns for Fortran editing, run configuration, duplicate runs, validation, file management, and status-based tracking.
- Worked with business users, actuarial specialists, architects, developers, analysts, and project leaders to align the experience with a C# and .NET application, Azure services, Git-based version control, and a hybrid execution environment.
- Supported MVP definition, Agile design reviews, accessibility, and implementation-ready UX documentation.

Outcome.
The ongoing work establishes a consistent, scalable experience for actuarial modelling and supports the transition from decentralized legacy tools to a unified web application.
